The City of Peterborough is undertaking a multi-phase construction project on Simcoe Street between George Street North and Aylmer Street to completely repave the roadway due to large potholes. Phase one began on August 4th, which saw the removal of some curbs and sidewalks on the south side of Simcoe. In phase two, road grinding will take place.

Phase two of the project is set to begin Monday, August 10th, and will continue until Sunday, August 23rd. During phase two, Peterborough Transit and GO Transit buses will not service the Peterborough Bus Terminal due to road work adjacent to the terminal. Route 88 GO buses will stop on Aylmer Street (south of Simcoe, west side) during this time. Peterborough Transit Routes 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 will stop on Simcoe Street between Bethune and Aylmer during this time. No bus stops will be missed however.

Simcoe Street repavement is set to be complete by late September 2020.

An Accessable Approach

Even though Transit buses are detouring away from the terminal, Simcoe Street will remain open to traffic in both directions. There may be times where only one lane of thraffic will be open instead of two.
